Great place for a mid-week date night! New Orleans pasta was wonderful...filled with sausage, chicken, meat and shrimp in a tasty sauce. Crab cakes were lump crab meat and no filler. My wife said they were delicious. We will be back!

From out of town and brought a couple of clients to The American for a business lunch. Perfect atmosphere for this kind of lunch and the food was delicious. Service was top notch and I would highly recommend.

As we were pulling into this town, we were reading the reviews and decided to try The American restaurant in downtown Bainbridge. We were able to have a parking place in front of the restaurant. Upon entering, we were immediately seated. Our waitress, Sarah D, did an excellent job of serving us. She was friendly and professional. Our food and drinks were delicious! From the salad to the entrees, we could not have been more pleased with our food. If we lived close by, we would come here every week.

Excellent as always. We live in Tallahassee, but the drive to Bainbridge for The American is always worth it. I usually get a steak but decided to try the New Orleans Pasta. Great flavor and a hearty portion barely left room for a slice of their goat cheese, cheesecake. Casual atmosphere with a touch of sophistication makes for a fun night out. Will go again and again!

One of our top favorite restaurants. Consistently amazing food and service. Order the tomato pie appetizer... It’s absolutely delicious!

We had a terrific lunch here. Had heard this place was good, and it delivered. The goat cheese salad was delicious (will start making this at home). All of the wood-grilled entrees were excellent, smoky, tasty and moist. A little weird that sodas came in the can. Did not have room for dessert but they sounded good. Saw lots of locals and repeat customers enjoying lunch.

Excellent food and service. Great atmosphere. Loved the fried chicken, snapper, cornbread, tomato pie, key lime pie, and banana cream pie.

A "must dine here" choice when you are anywhere near in south Georgia, the chef here knows what he is doing, turning out cuisine that reminds me of fine restaurants in New Orleans! My pasta dish with a spicy sheesy sauce had Taylor Farms sausage, chicken, and fresh shrimp and was outstanding, but looking at the menu it was hard to decide because I wanted to try everything - it all sounds wonderful. The chef changes the menu daily, so eat here often to discover new surprises! You'll be dining inside an historic building with beautiful original brick walls and lots of space between tables. The view out the front window of the city square adds to the atmosphere. We stopped here while driving home to Atlanta from a vacation on the Florida beaches but I just might drive here anytime because the food was so good! Heck, might have to move to Bainbridge!
